I attempted to teach about half lives of Dilaudid the other day for a patient who decided it was okay to take the amount of oral Dilaudid prescribed for the entire day in one dose and came in with altered level of consciousness. I'd like the meet the doctor who wrote that prescription especially to a guy who obviously doesn't understand the strength of medication he's taking for his "neuropathy."
this guy was found down in his friend's basement after taking essentially 60 mg of oxy for his 'back pain'. sometimes i think there's no hope for the world.

ReplyDeleteWell, referral to an addiction medicine clinic that with a Suboxone waiver might be a good start.
ReplyDeleteThe LA Times just published a pretty good article on perspiration opiate overdoses. Perhaps you need to draw some attention to the Dr. Feelgood in your community.
